Chapter 63
Once Yvonne opened the door, Samuel slowly walked in with a fanlarity to his step and saw her in her work clothes, which were meant to keep her clothes from getting dirty.
“Are you working overtime, Ms. Jamison?” he asked.
“I could ask the same of you, Mr. Hover,” she replied. “Did you sip by on the way back from a business dinner?”
Samuel was wearing a pressed suit as usual, and he always seemed to look meteulous and dignified He smiled and glanced at the coffee cup in Yvonne’s hand. “The coffee smells good.”
He was making his intentions very obvious.
Understanding what he was trying to say, Yvonne nodded and said “Please take a seat, Mr. Ilover. I’ll make you a cup of freshly ground coffee.”
Soon afterward, Samuel accepted a cup of black coffee from her and sampled it carefully.
He commented, “I’ve drunk many kinds of coffee, but these coffee beans were roasted to perfection. I don’t see any tea leaves added to it, but it gives off a faint aroma of tea. Did you add tea leaves to it during the roasting process?”
“You really are a coffee lover, Mr. Hover,” said Yvonne. “I added some jasmine tea leaves during the last stage of the roasting process, so it carries the aroma of tea but doesn’t overwhelm the dginal coffee flavor.”
Samuel had brought up a topic of mutual interest.
“I’m very
y fortunate to be able to enjoy this cup of coffee,” he said. Then, he narrowed his eyes and smiled, picking up one of the designs she’d drawn by hand. “Do you already have an idea in mind for the emerald sculpture’s design?”
“This is just a preliminary draft,” she replied. “The dimensions of the sculpture are still undetermined as of right now, so I’ll have to see how that turns out
Noticing his smile, she took the chance to ask, “Since you personally dropped by, does that mean there’s good news about the emerald?”
Samuel looked as if he was about to burst into laughter at her question. “I’ve contacted Jeriton City’s largest emerald–mining company and received a reply from them. They say that they’ve recently come into possession of two emerald ores that can be refined into an emerald sculpture.”
He scrolled through the chats on his phone as he spoke, then showed her photos and videos that the company employees had
sent to him.
“Let me have a look,” she said.
She didn’t take the phone from him directly but instead shifted slightly closer to him, adjusting her position according to the. angle at which he held the phone.
She tapped the play button and watched intently as the emerald mining team displayed the emeralds in the video,
At that point in time, there was still some distance between her and Samuel. Given his superior height, Samuel could see her head of soft–looking hair when he looked down.
As she angled her body sideways, her ponytail brushed gently against his chest. For a moment, his breathing became very slightly uneven.
He gripped the coffee cup tightly and forced himself to remain calm. “These two emerald ores have been tested and were found to be of decent quality. One of them is a Teratiche emerald while the other is a cat’s eye emerald, and I’ve reserved both of them.
They’ll deliver them to us in a few days, and I’ve requested that they leave the emeralds uncut. Both these emeralds have a different hardness, which will also affect the carving process, so we’ll decide how to proceed after you’ve taken a look at them.‘

Yvonne såld dramatically, “As expected of our sponsor, Mr. Hover dare not even think about how much large emerald ones of this grade must have cost. In that case, I can finish drawing the den first, and I’ll decide which emerald to use for the Sculpture once I’ve seen the ores.
As she finished speaking, she heard Samuel’s heartbeat by her ear is heart seemed to be beating rather quickly.
She subconsciously looked down, and only then did she realize that they were too close to each other.
She straightened her back, attempting to keep her distance from m
Samuel noticed this, but he simply said seriously, “Once the emeradores have been delivered, I’ll go with you to have a look at them.”
Then, perhaps because she looked at him inquisitively or because he was feeling guilty, he added, “The coffee was delicious.”
She looked down at the empty cup in his hands and realized that he really did like drinking coffee. Subsequently, she walked into the kitchen and came out carrying some coffee beans packaged in a paper bag
“These coffee beans are for you, Mr. Hover,” she said.
“Thank you,” he said politely.
The fact that he accepted them without even attempting to decline out of courtesy further proved that he really did like the coffee. Just as he reached out to take the bag, the alarm on the table rang.
Distracted, Yvonne almost lost her grip on the coffee beans. Samuel reacted quickly and made a grab for them, but by coincidence, he ended up holding her hands,
“Sorry,” he said quickly.
“It’s alright. It’s a good thing that the coffee beans didn’t fall to the floor,” she told him reassuringly.
