Jared felt that he really was drunk. After all, the thoughts he’d kepuried deep in his heart and been unwilling to admit aloud “werd all rushing to the surface right now.
He couldn’t control them even if he wanted to, so he simply sigheden resignation.
Yvonne waited silently on the other end of the call.
Was she waiting for him?
Having borrowed Anthony phone to reach Yvone, Jared felt as he could excur from the constraints of his own pride and
conduct himself in a less arrogant manner.
“Where are you, Yvvy?” he asked hoarsely, his voice heavily laced willemotions he couldn’t suppress,
He laughed self–deprecatingly, then added in aggravation, “Why did you go to meet Luther today? Are you seeing yet another
Anthony began, “Jared, you-
stop, but the latter ducked away from him.
He hadn’t expected Jared to say such things and wanted to advise him to stop,
Jared’s clothes were hanging loosely from his frame. His steps were unsteady, and he was slightly hunched as he leaned against the cold wall of the bar. There was no trace of his usual prideful and dignified attitude.
“There’s no way you aren’t aware of Luther’s intentions!” he argual “Why are you giving him the chance to get close to you? Is he better than me? In what way?”
In the end, he’d failed to persuade Yvonne to stay with him. He was incredibly a angry, and there was a lot he wanted to say to her.
But as luck would have it, he’d ended up meeting Luther, and listening to his provocations had triggered an unprecedented panic within him that seemed to drown out all his anger.
“Am I not among your choices, Yvvy? I’ve already prepared the contract and your office for you, so why are you still stubbornly refusing to listen to me?” be implored
He kept his eyes closed the entire time. He was unwilling to face this side of himself–a slave to his own feelings.
He was drunk, yet he felt incredibly sober.
He knew that this side of him that would willingly humble himself to someone would be gone by tomorrow. But he simply couldn’t control himself right now, especially since Yvonne seemed to be listening silently to him the entire time.
At that moment, Anthony was standing nearby, smoking. He was far enough that he couldn’t hear what they were talking about. He had no idea how Yvonne would react to Jared’s emotional confession.
Jared murmured, “You’ve really gone too far this time, Yvvy…”
From their breakup to her resigning and going on a blind date, Jared couldn’t easily get over these incidents, even though they’d happened quite long ago,
He could neither understand nor accept her actions, so he interrogated her angrily. He wanted to get answers from her.
Why aren’t you saying anything, Yvonne? Can’t you just tell me what you’re thinking?”
He suddenly lost complete control of his emotions, like a damn bursting open. “Listen, Yvonne! I’m Jared Ford! Nothing is out of
my grasp! I want you back, so I’m ordering you to come back to me right now! Don’t make me beg you…”
As he spoke, he slowly transitioned from anticipation to hysterical pleading
He closed his eyes and took deep breaths.

Anthony could feel Jared’s suffering. He wanted to try and persuad Yvonne as well, considering that she was the only cure for Jared’s pain.
However, when he picked up the phone to speak to her, he noticed that the call log had only recorded a three–second phone call Yvonne hadn’t even been listening to Jared, so the chances of her ever showing up in front of him again were next to nothing.
The next day, Jared was resting at home, having drunk so much that he’d given himself a headache.
In the past, Yvonne would give him a massage and make him somehangover soup after he got drunk, but now he could only suffer through his hangover alone.
“Do you still remember what you did at the bar last night?” asked Shane. “It’s a good thing that the boss and I are friends, so he gave me a discount on the compensation we had to pay for the damages.”
As his good friend, Shane had specially come to visit him–or so he claimed, Jared inwardly scoffed at the notion.
Shane continued, “Are you really that reluctant to let go of Yvonne? I really don’t get what you and Luther are fighting about. If you give women an inch, they’ll take a mile. Isn’t it a bit too unseemly for you to be like this over her?”
