Chapter 82
Without thinking, Jared started to rush after Yvonne.
Upon hearing the noise, Bradley stepped out of the office and asked, “Mr. Ford, is everything okay with you and Ms. Jamison?”
Jared had no choice but to stop in his tracks. When he turned around, he suddenly remembered something.
“Yvvy went to the administration office… I almost forgot. She worked as my secretary for three years. She’s very familiar with the Ford family’s charity work. She must have known I’d be at this anniversary event, so she came here to wait for me.”
“What?” Bradley was stunned for a second. He tried to explain, “Ms. Jamison was asking me about-”
“I know she was asking about me,” Jared cut him off.
He’d already formed an answer in his mind. He continued with magnanimity, “It’s fine, I won’t make a fuss about the college leaking my schedule.”
Bradley hesitated, unsure whether he should speak up or stay quiet After all, Yvonne had actually come to see him about the Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotional Event.
“Mr. Ford, why did you leave without finishing the tour?” Connor walked over with Shirley, who was representing the Ford family,
There were too many people now, so Bradley decided to keep quiet.
Jared didn’t get angry when Yvonne rejected him again. Instead, he felt frustrated with himself for always being a step too slow to understand.
Yvonne had secretly wanted to see him, but her pride had gotten in the way, causing her to put up a tough front. When she finally had the chance to meet him, he’d messed it up.
Standing on the fifth floor, Jared spotted Yvonne’s back on the field.
Yvonne returned to Isabel and said, “I’m going back now.”
“Why? I just saw that scumbag Jared. Did he bother you again?” Isabel linked arms with two burly athletes, clearly ready to fight Jared at the drop of a hat.
“No, I’ve got an idea for the promotional event. I need to go work on the materials.” Smiling, Yvonne leaned in close to whisper, “Have fun, Isabel. I won’t be waiting up for you.”
She didn’t even look back as she left.
Jared, standing at a distance, couldn’t see her expression. But he could guess what was going on in her head. She was rushing to leave after running into him because she was upset again.
He didn’t know why, but just seeing those athletes around her annoyed him.
“Mr. Donaldson, have the athletes wear long sleeves and pants for the friendly match today. It’s not appropriate to have them dressed so revealingly on campus.”
Jared was clearly using his status to get back at the students. If it weren’t for them trying to get close to Yvonne, he wouldn’t
have lost his mind.
“What?”
Connor and Bradley exchanged confused glances. Why was Jared even more old–fashioned and conservative than they were?
In the end, though, his suggestion didn’t get enforced.
As Jared watched Isabel laughing it up with the athletes, he couldn’t help but feel angry. She was so focused on the men around her that she didn’t even bother to go home and be with Yvonne, who was obviously upset.

Jared wanted to be with Yvonne, but he couldn’t even reach her.
Outside the campus gates, Jared leaned against his Bentley, smoking. It wasn’t long before a blue Lamborghini roared up, and out stepped Anthony.
The luxury car parked at the campus gates stood out, immediately catching the attention of passing female students. To them, both of these men seemed like untouchable figures.
Anthony, puffing on his cigarette, listened to Jared vent.
“You know why Yvonne’s jealous, so why won’t you deal with the problem?” Anthony asked while glancing meaningfully at Shirley.
“Yvonne wants to be with you. Her interactions with Luther and the chance encounters she creates are all just so she can see you. So stop torturing each other. I hope you two can make it work Don’t let her slip away again.”
