Yvonne drove straight to the underground parking lot, where Howard was already waiting for her. He granted her access to the VIP elevator.
“Ms. Jamison, Mr. Hover asked me to bring you up.”
“Thank you.”
Holding the paper bag, Yvonne suddenly wondered if Samuel was making too much of a fuss over such a small gift.
Meanwhile, at the first–floor lobby of Hover Group, Jared stood by the elevator, waiting for it to arrive.
Just as Yvonne’s elevator reached the first floor, the doors opened with a soft chime. Jared looked over. The elevator was empty.
The VIP elevator didn’t stop at the first floor–it went directly to the president’s office. So Yvonne and Jared didn’t run into each
other here.
As Jared entered the elevator, he saw Luther walking toward him.
“Mr. Feland, you sure are quick,” Jared remarked.
Luther, always sharp–tongued, shot back, “Can’t help it. We don’t have the upper hand. By the way, Mr. Ford, why didn’t you bring Ms. Ember today?”
The tension in the elevator immediately thickened.
“Feland Group isn’t familiar with this project. There’s no need for unnecessary competition,” Jared said.
“This project doesn’t necessarily default to Ford Corporation. Plus you missed your chance once. You might miss it again.”
As the elevator reached the top floor, the door to the president’s office closed just as they stepped out.
“Mr. Ford, Mr. Feland,” Howard greeted them, blocking their path as he stepped out of the office. “Apologies, but Mr. F to attend to something urgent. Please follow me to the conference room for now.”

Both Jared and Luther knew they had to be cautious around Samuel if they wanted to secure the collaboration with Hover Group.
In the conference room, the atmosphere was thick with unspoken rivalry.
Just then, Liam rushed over for the meeting. When he saw Howard still outside, he asked in confusion, “I’m not late, am I? Shouldn’t the meeting have started by now?”
“Mr. Hover is meeting with an even more important guest, so the project meeting has been delayed,” Howard explained.
“More important than the project? Is it Mr. Hover Senior?” Liam asked, his voice tense.
Howard shook his head and whispered, “No, it’s the important female guest Mr. Hover went on a date with.”
Yvonne arrived at the office two minutes early. When she saw the piles of paperwork on the desk, she turned to face Samuel, who’d sat down on the couch.
“My unexpected visit didn’t interrupt you, did it, Mr. Hover?”
“No, I wasn’t busy.” Samuel lied without batting an eye.
He noticed the paper bag in her hand. “Ms. Jamison, you mentioned you brought a gift for me. I’m looking forward to it.”
“You brought a doctor over for me when I was sick. I just wanted to thank you. I roasted some coffee beans today, and 1 remembered you liked them, so I brought you a couple of bags. It’s nothing extravagant.”

After all, as the heir of the Hover family, there wasn’t much Samuel needed from others. This was just a small token of appréciation from Yvonne.
Samuel took the bag from her. Before even opening it, he could already smell the coffee aroma.
“I love coffee. And your coffee beans are truly delicious. Did you prepare these just for me?”
Yvonne shook her head. “Not exactly. I’m busy with the Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotional Event and working on the emerald sculpture, so I just prepared the coffee in advance to help keep me energized.”
Her tone was casual, reflecting her relaxed state despite her full schedule.
Samuel’s gaze softened as he studied her face. She seemed a little thinner, and there were faint dark circles under her eyes.
“Is your cold completely gone, Ms. Jamison?”
“Yes. By the way, Mr. Hover, do you have an estimate for when the emerald will arrive?”
“It’ll be another couple of days. The paperwork is a bit complicated In the meantime, you can focus on the Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotional Event. There’s no rush for the emerald sculpture.”
They sat across from each other on the couch, maintaining a respectful distance. But Samuel’s posture was slightly angled toward her. His hand was still holding the bag of coffee beans.
“Let me know if there are any updates, Mr. Hover.” After glancing at the time, Yvonne stood up and said, “I won’t disturb your work any longer.”
