Jared’s heart raced with panic.

Without thinking, he cut through traffic and drove toward the highway where the self–serve gas station was located. However, before he could get anywhere near the affected area, the road was already blocked, and cars were backed up. Jared couldn’t get any closer. He got out of the car and ran over, where he saw traffic police and firefighters at the intersection. “Sir, there’s been a mudslide up ahead. The road is completely blocked, and no vehicles can go through,” an officer informed him.
“My girlfriend’s car is on that section of the highway! I need to get in there and save her. Let me through!”
Jared’s eyes were bloodshot. He tried to rush past but was stopped by the officers.
“Sir, if your girlfriend is inside, the rescue teams are already on it. The surveillance cameras show two cars were trapped, and the rescue teams are already in action. You cannot go in. It’s too dangerous.”
The traffic police blockade here left Jared helpless. He could only watch from afar.
“It’s my fault. I took Yvvy’s phone and her car keys. If I’d just taken her with me, she wouldn’t be stuck in that dangerous place…
Her phone was in his car. There was no way he could confirm if she was okay.
A thought suddenly hit him. “Have you located the trapped individual? Tell me the exact location. I’ll have the best rescue team from Jeriton City sent over right away. I’ll pay whatever it takes to get Yvvy out!”
“Sir, please calm down. The rescue teams are already there, and we’ll have information soon.”
The firefighters were on–site for disaster relief, while the best rescue team from Jeriton City was responsible for the rescue operation.
They had accurate information, which confirmed that there was a prominent figure from Jeriton City among the trapped individuals.
This matter had to be kept confidential, and even those on–site were instructed not to leak any information. The ro. completely blocked.

Jared stayed there, his worry for Yvonne clouding his thoughts. He didn’t notice the situation with another vehicle in the area.
Meanwhile, Yvonne and Samuel sat by the highway, waiting for help.
Once out of danger, she couldn’t help but think about the auction that was now underway. If Andrew’s posthumous work hadn’t been sold, there might still be a chance for her.
Samuel was sitting nearby, making a call.
Suddenly, Yvonne heard the unmistakable sound of helicopter blades. She looked up in confusion.
Although there was no sunshine, the sky was still somewhat blinding.
“Is that….a helicopter?” She widened her eyes in disbelief.
Smiling, Samuel asked, “Does this remind you of the scene you described from those short dramas? But we only have two people here, so we won’t be wasting resources with a dozen helicopters.”
“…Mr. Hover, I was just saying that.” Yvonne suddenly felt nervous

“The highway is completely blocked, so only helicopters can get through. Don’t worry. This is just a normal rescue operation,” Samuel said.
The helicopter landed in an open area nearby. As the rescue team disembarked, a strong gust of wind blew through, making it feel especially cold.
Yvonne and Samuel stood and walked toward them.
“Mr. Hover, are you alright?” one of the rescuers asked.
“I’m fine.” Samuel showed no signs of distress as he walked.
As Yvonne boarded the helicopter, she struggled to move properly with her twisted ankle.
A rescuer noticed and immediately asked her, “Miss, is your leg injured? There’s blood on your pants.”
“Blood?”
Yvonne froze for a moment. Looking down, she noticed the dirt mixed with what seemed like blood. But she didn’t have any external injuries.
“Mr. Hover, are you hurt?” she asked.
As she turned around, she caught sight of Samuel’s pale expression.
Only after confirming they were out of danger did Samuel say, “A branch scratched my calf, but it’s nothing serious.”
“Let me take a look.”
Yvonne tried to check his injuries, but Samuel blocked her hand.
“You got hurt because you carried me…”
“Not really. I was leading the way, so I would have been injured anyway. Let’s just get out of here first.”
