Yvonne felt a wave of guilt wash over her. She knew words of thanks weren’t enough to express her gratitude.
When Samuel sat down, the bloodstain on his calf became more apparent.
“Let’s go to the hospital in Jeriton City,” Yvonne said.
“No, we’re going to Tidalus.” Samuel corrected her,
Samuel met her gaze and continued, “I’ve already contacted the auction organizer. Mr. Jamison’s posthumous work won’t be publicly auctioned. We still have time for you to change into something more comfortable before we go get the piece you want.”
“That doesn’t matter, Mr. Hover. You need to get your injury treated right away.”
“We can do both. You go get Mr. Jamison’s posthumous work, and I’ll have the Hover family medical team tend to my injury. It’s just a small wound.”
Seeing she still wanted to argue, Samuel put the headphones on her. His smile was gentle, but there was a hint of dominance to it.
The helicopter soared over the blocked–off highway.
Yvonne didn’t look down. The altitude made everything below seem so distant. She had no idea what was going on down there.
But Jared spotted the helicopter hovering overhead and immediately ran to ask the rescue team, “Have the people been rescued? Was she injured? Is she going to the hospital? Where can I meet her?”
The rescue team answered him, “We’ve received confirmation. Both individuals have been rescued and are unharmed. But we’re
not sure where they’re heading.”
For Jared, this was a relief.
“Yvvy is fine. She’s safe.”
But even though he was relieved, he couldn’t contact her and didn’t know which rescue team had been involved.
“Yvvy didn’t go back to Jeriton City. The helicopter was headed toward Tidalus. She must be trying to make it to the auction. If I get there, I’m sure I’ll run into her. I’ve got to buy the piece she wanted to make her happy.”
Jared wasn’t far from Tidalus. As he arrived at the auction venue, he was relieved when he saw that Andrew’s artwor on display.

“Yvvy isn’t here yet. She won’t make it in time. Right now, I’m the only one who can buy this piece for her. She’ll be moved for sure. It’s my fault that she’s been shaken by everything that’s happened today. And I wasn’t there to comfort her when she needed it. This gift is important.”
His mind raced with memories.
Back when the Jamison family’s villa had been up for auction, he’d rushed to take her on a business trip with him. But their flight had gotten delayed, and they hadn’t made it back in time, so they’d missed it.
Thankfully, he’d later bought her another villa, which made her happy.
This posthumous piece was what she really wanted, and he was determined to get it for her.

Jared waited eagerly for the auction.
When the auctioneer finally announced the end of the event, Jared was stunned. Andrew’s work hadn’t been auctioned.
He rushed to the organizer. “Why wasn’t item 277 auctioned? I want to buy it.”

Yvonne’s smile was sincere.
Sitting in the car, Samuel watched her and caught sight of Jared rushing out from the auction venue’s entrance.
In an instant, his eyes narrowed dangerously.
If Yvonne stayed here, she would run into Jared. And Samuel didn’t want that.
