Chapter 97
Yvonne frowned at Samuel’s words. How could she not worry?
“Your test results aren’t out yet, Mr. Hover. You got hurt because of me, so it’s only right that I stay to take care of you.”
“You should go back and rest, Ms. Jamison,” replied Samuel. “I’ll be fine staying in the hospital alone.”
The bandages wrapped around his calf were very conspicuous.
Just then, Isabel, who was standing next to Yvonne, pointed at Howard and asked with suspicion–filled eyes, “Why would you be alone in the hospital, Mr. Hover?
“You have your assistant, and there are so many members of the medical staff around to take care of you. They’re all far more qualified than Yvvy to take care of you.”
“Sure, Howard can stay in the hospital to look after me, but there’ll then be nobody to handle company affairs or prevent the news that I’m in the hospital from leaking out,” Samuel replied breezily.
His expression said that he didn’t want Yvonne to feel troubled, and he said lightly, “You don’t have to worry too much, Ms. Jamison.
“Howard will just stay behind regardless of the risk of this information reaching the media. Even though there are medical staff around, I’m unable to place my full trust in any of them.”
As he said this, he glanced subtly at Howard, who was standing by the door.
At the end of the day, Howard was Samuel’s assistant and followed him closely, so he immediately understood what Samuel wanted to convey.
He said anxiously, “But Mr. Hover, the company affairs are related to Hover Group’s position in the market. If I don’t handle them, it’ll have a huge impact on-”
In truth, he’d already finished handling said company affairs, and he was actually here to report back to Samuel about them.
However, in front of Yvonne and Isabel…
Howard took out his phone–which hadn’t rung at all–with a serious expression and pretended to speak into it.
“I have to take care of Mr. Hover, so I have no time to handle anything else right now. Please understand that he cannot be left unattended. No matter how urgent the project is, Mr. Hover takes priority. Even if the company were to suffer loss
Samuel coughed lightly, reminding Howard not to exaggerate his act too much. He didn’t want Yvonne to feel too guilty.
“Don’t make phone calls here,” he admonished.
“Sorry.”
Howard walked out of the ward. Even without an audience watching him, he had to continue acting as if he was harried and
stuck in a dilemma.
“Don’t worry about me, Ms. Jamison. Just go home and rest,” Samuel said again, leaning despondently against the headboard.
Yvonne recalled Samuel mentioning that the news of him being injured could absolutely not be allowed to get out.
He’d protected her, so how could she be so selfish as to leave him alone now?
“I’m not going back,” she declared. “Please let Mr. Wellington return to the company to deal with matters–there, Mr. Hover. I’ll stay with you at the hospital.”
Samuel’s eyes lit up upon hearing her words, then darkened again. That won’t do, Ms. Jamison. You really don’t have to worry about me. I’ll be fine.”

He made a show of coughing before adding, “I’m fine. I probably caught a cold from being in the rain today.”
Yvonne took a deep breath. She remembered that Samuel had gotten wet from the rain because he’d lent her his jacket.
“It’s decided, Mr. Hover, so have a good rest. I won’t leave your side tonight,” she said firmly.
The resigned look Samuel plastered on his face made it seem as if he had no choice but to compromise.
The more Isabel watched, the more doubtful she felt about the entire situation.
“You’re not needed here, Yvvy–”
“Let’s talk outside, Isabel,” interjected Yvonne.
Yvonne walked out of the ward and told Howard, who was still pretending to be on the phone, “Please head back to the company first, Mr. Wellington. Mr. Hover needs to rest, so please just do your best with the company’s affairs. I’ll take care of Mr. Hover, so you don’t have to worry about him.”
“I’ll leave Mr. Hover to you then, Ms. Jamison. I have to rush back to the company now.”
Howard kept up a stellar act even until the very last moment when he rushed toward the elevator.
Originally, he’d actually been worried for Samuel’s health, but it seemed that his concern had been for nothing.
Feeling increasingly suspicious, Isabel asked tentatively, “Don’t you get the feeling that… Mr. Hover is a bit of a schemer, Xvvy?” “What do you mean by ‘schemer‘?” Yvonne asked in confusion.
She explained seriously, “If Mr. Hover hadn’t come to rescue me today, I would definitely have been trapped and been unable to buy back my dad’s posthumous work. He got hurt because of me, so I have an obligation to take care of him.”
“But it’s like he wants you to stay here and take care of him,” Isabel said insistently.
