Chapter 99
Jared felt like he was really about to lose control.
He regretted leaving Yvonne behind, and he was equally worried about what she’d experienced today.
Yet, when he thought about the possibility that Yvonne had already taken Andrew’s posthumous work, his heart felt as if it was being swallowed by a jealousy born from groundless suspicion.
Jealousy was like a veil hanging over his eyes, effectively blinding him. –
Consumed by the tormenting pain, he couldn’t see anyone or anything else.
It was only when Anthony and Shane heard about Jared’s situation that they realized the person trapped in the mudslide reported in the news today was Yvonne.
“What exactly is going on, Jared? Yvonne’s not answering her phone.”
“Her phone is turned off.”
Jared didn’t tell them that he was the reason she’d been trapped there.
Instead, he explained, “I know Yvvy went to Tidalus, but I couldn’t catch up with her, so I don’t know what her situation is. She’s definitely back in Jeriton, but Isabel hid her away and refused to tell me where she is.”
Suddenly, he shot up from his seat and asked, “Do you know Luther’s whereabouts, Shane?”
“Do you suspect that Luther’s hidden her away?” Shane asked in return.
“I don’t know, but she was picked up in a luxury car. Apart from Luther, I can’t think of anyone else she knows who’s from a wealthy family.”
Jared had completely lost all rationality now. While looking at Anthony and Shane, he said in an anxious and slightly hysterical tone, “At least let me see Yvvy so that I can explain this matter to her…”
“Luther and I aren’t that close to each other, but I’ll ask him,” replied Shane.
He was feeling a little anxious as well. He was friends with Luther, and he couldn’t offend the Felands because their families had business dealings with each other.
Jared rambled, “Jeriton City is so big. How am I going to find Yvvy?I want to see her… She definitely wants to see me too.
“There’s a huge misunderstanding between us. If I don’t explain things to her, I’m really worried that we’ll grow further and further apart.”
He closed his eyes tightly.
As he searched through the news articles, Anthony said, “There are no detailed official reports on today’s highway rescue incident. Did you say that Yvonne even attended an auction after being rescued? In that case, there must be clues at the auction
house.”
Jared reacted immediately to his words. “That’s right. I should start my investigation with the auction house.”
“Someone who can directly reserve an auction item is no ordinary person. Also, you said that Yvonne wasn’t using her phone, so she definitely wouldn’t have been able to pay for it,” Anthony commented observantly.
He was also worried for Yvonne’s safety, but a sudden thought flashed through his mind.
If Yvonne was really going to choose Luther, why couldn’t she have considered him instead?
He and Yvonne could be considered childhood friends, and he was only a few years younger than Jared.

Yvonne woke up at 6 o’clock in the morning, having slept in a separate nurses‘ lounge in the hospital.
She was a little unaccustomed to it, but she’d been too tired last night. After falling asleep late at night, she’d also gotten
nightmares.
It would probably take some time for her to gradually recover from her close brush with death.
After getting out of bed and washing up, she walked out of the lounge just in time to see Samuel’s attending doctor–Marcus Grant–who was delivering Samuel’s examination report.
Marcus knocked on the door and opened it after hearing a response from inside.
“Who let Mr. Hover eat unhealthy fried food like this?” he asked sternly after seeing the food on the table.
Yvonne walked in behind him to see that she hadn’t put away the things on the table.
She said meekly, “I’m sorry. The food was mine…”
Samuel had suggested they watch a movie last night, which she hadn’t had the time for recently since she’d been busy.
She’d become really engrossed in the movie, so she’d eaten quite a lot.
Just then, Samuel walked out of a back room. He was wearing a light blue shirt and casual sweatpants so that it was easier to access the injury on his left leg.
“Your blood test results are out, Mr. Hover,” announced Marcus.
“How is he?” Yvonne asked quickly, feeling even more anxious than Samuel was.
“The wound shows signs of inflammation from being soaked in water, but fortunately, no bacterial infection was detected. He’ll be fine as long as he receives proper treatment during this period of time,” Marcus replied in detail, treating Samuel’s injury very seriously.
After changing the dressing, he prepared the medicine that Samuel would have to take over the next few days while Yvonne watched the entire process from the sidelines.
